What is a Raster Mask?
A 'Raster Mask' defines the relationship between:
- A classification code in your raster data
- A Unity terrain texture to display
- Texture properties (tiling, normals, etc.)
Raster Mask Properties
Display Name : Human-readable name for this classification
Caption : Display Name field showing "Open Water". Example: "Open Water", "Deciduous Forest", "Urban High Intensity"
File Path : Path to GeoTIFF classification raster. The file must contain integer classification values
Classification Code : The numeric code in your raster that represents this land cover type
Examples:
- 11 = Open Water (NLCD)
- 41 = Deciduous Forest (NLCD)
- 21 = Developed, Open Space (NLCD)
Diffuse Texture : The albedo/color texture
Tile Size : How many times the texture repeats across the terrain
Smaller values = larger texture appearance
Larger values = smaller, more repeated texture
Recommended: 25-100 for most terrains
Tile Offset : Shifts the texture position, Usually left at 0, 0. Use for specific alignment needs
Normal Map : Adds surface detail through lighting
Normal Scale : Intensity of normal map effect (0-10)
Metallic : Surface reflectivity (0-1)
Smoothness : Surface glossiness (0-1)
