This tutorial show how to control terrain splatmap by applying textures to it according to a custom high value.
Change 'Texturing Mode' to 'Splatmapping',
Set Terrain tiles count.
Set Terrain Base Texture + Normal Map.
Add new layers ( ex : 3 layers).
Add a texture + normal map to each texture.
Set the texture size of each layer.
Click on 'Distribute values' button to set the elevation of each layer (Start From <---> To).
We can change the elevation heights values from the sliders.
Play with 'Slope', 'Merging Radius' and 'Merging Factor' to get the expected result
